Lisa is a documentarian and a mother of 3 children. She is married to a hedge fund banker named Herbert. In Hello, It's Me, Lisa runs into Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda during brunch. She seems close with Charlotte, as their kids both take piano lessons together.
In "Little Black Dress", it is revealed that her father passed the previous year.
In Season 2, Lisa starts to take on more at work. She interviews Nya for a new documentary she's filming for. Charlotte and Lisa are amused when they find out they are on a male student's MILF list at their kid's school. Lisa and Herbert's 20th wedding anniversary party is a failure after Herbert forgets to send the invites out.
Lisa starts to struggle with balancing everything in her life. Herbert wants her to come support him at his campaign rally, however it is scheduled at the same time that the MoMA is honoring her as a black filmmaker. During a New York blizzard, Lisa makes it to the MoMa.
Lisa struggles when Herbert Jr starts to go too far with his girlfriend. She's afraid they will have sex in her and Herbert's bed. Lisa starts falling asleep everywhere and missing events. She finds out she is pregnant and this explains that sleepiness. She is happy about the pregnancy but also has some hesitations because it conflicts with a possible PBS documentary she wants to film. Lisa has an unexpected miscarriage and she feels guilty for not feeling 100% about the baby in the first place. Lisa and Herbert eventually move past Lisa's miscarriage.
