Natasha Naginsky is a guest character first introduced in season two of "Sex and the City". The younger, beautiful fiancée of Mr. Big, Natasha represents a stark contrast to Carrie's more eclectic and bohemian style.
Sex and the City[]
Natasha is introduced to Carrie Bradshaw in Season 2 as Mr. Big's fiancée. A young, beautiful woman from a wealthy family with a job at Ralph Lauren, she embodies the ideal of a polished and sophisticated socialite. This revelation is a major blow to Carrie, who is still dealing with her feelings for Big.
Big and Natasha get married at the beginning of Season 3. Despite their marriage, Mr. Big continues to have feelings for Carrie, leading to an affair between them. Natasha eventually discovers the affair when she catches Carrie in her own apartment trying to escape out of the backdoor. This leads to a dramatic confrontation where Natasha chases Carrie out of the apartment, resulting in Natasha falling down the stairs and injuring herself. She suffers a broken tooth and severe emotional distress. The affair and its aftermath lead to the end of Natasha and Mr. Big's marriage. She goes back to working at Ralph Lauren after leaving him.
She makes a brief reappearance in "Time and Punishment", when Carrie bumps into her at a restaurant. This encounter is awkward, but Natasha handles it with grace, indicating that she has moved on from the ordeal. She tells Carrie that she is fine and has put the past behind her, providing some closure for both characters.
And Just Like That...[]
Upon discovering that Natasha inherited 1,000,000 dollars from Big, Carrie becomes suspicious, believing he may have been having an affair the entire time they were together. Determined to uncover the truth, she sets out to track Natasha down. Carrie attempts to contact Natasha via email and Instagram, only to find herself blocked on the latter platform. Undeterred, Carrie learns that Natasha works at Mina Minetti and tries to reach her at the company’s office. However, Natasha's assistant informs Carrie that she is currently in Rome. Frustrated, Carrie leaves the building to meet up with Charlotte and Miranda. As they regroup, Carrie unexpectedly spots Natasha, leading to the trio deciding to make a quick escape after being seen by Natasha themselves.
Later, Carrie’s suspicions are dispelled when she unexpectedly encounters an angry Natasha at a coffee shop in the Lower East Side. Natasha confronts Carrie, revealing she knows about the stalking. She explains that she hasn’t seen Big in the 21 years since their divorce. Natasha shares that she is now happily married with two sons, and she has a successful career, sending her children to private school. She admits that she was aware John was always in love with Carrie. This revelation evokes sympathy in Natasha, leading to a heartfelt conversation where the two women finally make peace with each other.
Trivia[]
- Natasha is consistently dressed in white throughout her appearances in the original series. This color choice is deliberate, symbolizing her "vanilla" personality. In contrast, in "In Just Like That...", she is seen wearing light blue and flats, marking a shift in her character presentation.
